Word 3.01 - to delete all carriage returns in a Word document - (Very handy for a document you have downloaded from a electronic bulletin board system.) First make a copy of the document. Pull down the Search menu and choose Change (COMMAND-H). In the Find What box type ^p (hard carriage return). In the Change To box type ^n (hard line feed) - it shows up in the document on screen as a broken arrow). Click Change All. Again pull down the Search menu and choose Change. In the Find What box type ^n^n and in the Change To box type ^p^p. Click on Change All. When the substitution is done save the file again. Again pull down Search menu and choose Change. In the Find What box type ^n^ and in the Change To box type a backspace (hit the Backspace or Delete key). Click Change All.
